The problem
Finding a matching blood donor in time still happens through phone chains and social media posts. The information exists; it is just not in one place when it is urgently needed.
The solution
A platform where requests and donors meet directly, with the state of a request visible in real time so nobody is left guessing whether it has been fulfilled.
Architecture
How it is put together.
Requests
Recipients post a blood request with the details that matter for matching.
Donors
Donors register and are matched against open requests.
Tracking
Request status updates in real time as donations are committed.
Key features
What it actually does.
- Blood request creation and matching
- Donor registration and discovery
- Real-time request status tracking
Engineering challenges
The parts that were hard.
Urgency shapes the interface
Someone using this is under stress. Every extra screen between a request and a match is a real cost.
Outcomes
What came out of it.
Qualitative outcomes only — no invented benchmarks or metrics.
Requests and donors in one place instead of scattered messages
A complete MERN application delivered end to end
